Artist's Statement

A work of art applies its own lens to the moment experienced by the person viewing it. It causes each person to pause and reflect on their relationship with the content of the piece; what meaning or value it holds, how well (or not) they know it, how it has changed them, and vice versa. For a moment, a person is present and consciously sitting with the content, and nothing else.

I think creating something that can pull a person into a moment in this way is powerful. Causing someone to be present and conscious of something, uninterrupted, is an incredible opportunity for both the viewer and the subject.

I want to make art that captures people's minds. 

I want to make something that focuses the consciousness of a community.

I want to pull people's attention from the static and give them a moment of clear presence.

I want to draw an ear correctly.

I want to bring people joy, through art.
